[Magi] Kouha x Reader

You had been ignoring your friend for almost 2 weeks now. Normally you wouldn’t take such drastic actions, especially since you knew how much it bothered him, but he had crossed the line with his last stunt.


Kouha had been practicing combat with you in the outdoor practice arena, and although he had the advantage of being a dungeon capturer, you were able to keep him somewhat evenly matched. Even pressing him back at times, it seemed you were getting better with him to spar against. You felt proud of your ability to keep him on his toes.


Things were going well, until his older brother Kouen came out, and began watching the match between you two. Suddenly, Kouha’s attitude towards the match changed. He struck faster, swung harder. He really was trying to show off to his big brother, and prove that he was a skilled combatant as well.


“Hey, not so hard!” you yelled at him. But he ended up pushing you too far, and in a flurry of blows, he managed to give you a large cut on the arm, it made you cry out in pain.


Immediately, the match stopped, and he ran up to you to see if you were alright. You held your bleeding arm and clenched in the tears that wanted to spill over.


“What did you do that for?” you yelled in anger. He looked down in shame of himself for not being able to stop in time.


“I told you to not take it so seriously, but you didn’t stop!” you were upset, and the wound really hurt.


Kouen walked over and joined the two of you in the arena, and used Phenex’s healing abilities on your arm. You knew Kouha must have felt bad with how dejected he looked.


“Sorry... I just thought you could handle it, [Name].” he finally said. What a back handed apology! You stormed off, to do something else, without Kouha there.


And that’s how you got to be in this situation.


Kouha followed you around whenever he had the chance, whining and begging for you to forgive him. Even when you were walking around town, he’d trail after you. Some of the shopkeepers made fun of the situation, saying that he must have cheated on you or something. It always made your face turn bright red, and you would frustratedly leave.


You couldn’t forgive him, with how arrogant his apologies always seemed. He never took full responsibility, always saying things like ‘I just get competitive around brother’ or ‘You were holding up fine beforehand, so I couldn’t tell when to stop.’ It just annoyed you. You’d forgive him if he was actually sincere. But you didn’t think he was just yet, so instead, the silent treatment continued.


He tried to bribe you with fancy clothes, delicious foods, expensive jewelry and trinkets, and imported books. All sorts of material things that you didn’t really need. He tried to trick you into talking to him, by making you mad, or surprising you. Even if it was just to scold him, he missed your voice. But it never worked, even his most dedicated attempts.


Eventually, he just couldn’t take it anymore. He laid in bed all day, miserable. It was out of the usual for him, and his family tried to figure out what to do. Hakuei, Kougyoku, and Koumei all in turn talked to you about the situation, and tried to convince you to give in to Kouha, but you declined adamantly. Even Kouen yelling at Kouha didn’t get him to do much except the bare minimum. It was actually kind of pathetic to see your usually happy and outgoing friend wilt away like a plant without sunlight.


Finally, you decided to give him a chance.


It was midnight, and Kouha was still up. He was sitting outside in the palace’s garden, watching the moon and enjoying the cool wind that gently blew against his skin.


You stepped out from under the balcony, emerging from the shadows quietly, but not unnoticed by his keen senses. He said nothing as you stood by the bench, mirroring him; looking up at the full bright moon. After a few moments, he stood up, standing behind you, and wrapping his hands around your waist.


“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have acted like an idiot, or ever put you in danger, [Name.] I’ll never hurt you again.” he seemed completely serious, making a promise to you. He rested his chin on your shoulder, looking sidelong at you with sincere eyes.


You said nothing, taking in the meaning of his words.


“You can yell at me, or hit me, or insult me all you want. I don’t care. Just please say something…” he pleaded.


A little smile appeared on your lips, and you turned around, gently putting a hand on his cheek.


“You better stay true to your word, or I’m gonna kick your ass so hard.” you finally responded, sealing the deal with a tender kiss. He was shocked by your actions, so it took him a minute before he started kissing you back with excitement, holding you tight.


When you two broke from the embrace, he smirked at you.


“If I knew this was going to happen, I should have just apologized fully from the start.”


You punched his arm playfully, grinning despite his snarky commentary.


“Oh, shut up.” you scolded him, before leaning back in for a second kiss.
